Davido was born David Adedeji Adeleke on November 21, 1992, in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. His father, Adedeji Adeleke, is a Nigerian business magnate, while his mother, Vero Adeleke, was a university lecturer. Davido is the youngest of five siblings.
Davido’s family moved back to Nigeria when he was five years old. He attended the British International School in Lagos, and at the age of 16, he moved to the United States to study business administration at Oakwood University, Alabama.
While at Oakwood, Davido began to pursue his passion for music. He bought musical equipment and started making beats. He also worked with his cousins B-Red and Sina Rambo to form the music act KB International.
In 2011, Davido dropped out of Oakwood and moved back to Nigeria to pursue his music career full-time. He released his debut single, “Back When,” in the same year. The song was a hit, and it helped to launch Davido’s career.
Davido has since released four more studio albums: A Good Time (2013), The Baddest (2015), Afrobeats (2017), and Timeless (2023). He has also released a number of hit singles, including “Dami Duro,” “Gobe,” “If,” “Fall,” and “Aye.”
